The bodies of 25 Australian soldiers killed in the Vietnam War may be repatriated from Malaysia and Singapore.

The Abbott government is offering to pay for the cost of repatriating 24 diggers buried in the Terendak Cemetery in Malaysia, if that is what their families want, Prime Minister Tony Abbott told parliament on Monday.
One other soldier buried in Singapore may also be repatriated.
The offer follows extensive consultation with the RSL, the Vietnam Veterans’ Association of Australia, the Vietnam Veterans’ Federation of Australia, as well as veterans’ families.
Families will be able to decide if they want to take up this offer.

Return of 175 Iranian bodies from Iraq stirs painful memories

The bodies of 175 Iranian divers who were reportedly buried alive with their hands tied during the Iran-Iraq War were returned from Iraq, said Gen. Seyyed Mohammad Bagherzadeh, commander of the committee to find missing veterans of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The news touched off a wave of sympathy on Iranian social media, with many sharing the last pictures of the divers before they disappeared in 1986.
