• Yesterday 20/11/2012 prior to arrival of Amnesty Int’l, Omid the Iranian asylum seeker who has been on hunger strike for 40 days was returned to the camp from the hospital. Omid said he wanted to be at the camp yesterday at noon but was told that until he eats he would not be allowed out of the hospital, however, at 1pm glucose was injected and after a blood sugar test was told he will now have to return to the camp……………
-During the Amnesty visit “some volley balls and cricket balls were given to them [other asylum seekers] to make them and Salvation Army officers were trying to make them look playful and occupied and simultaneously they were being photographed by officers, taking photos of some empty larger tents. We are delighted that an international organisation has finally placed a stamp of acceptance on our plight and our wails of injustice that so far have been called lies by the immigration department”.
